Fabric Fabrik is the playful, thoughtful design studio of Belgian designer Katrijn Respeel, based in Ghent. I’ve had the joy of watching Katrijn grow and evolve over the past 20 years — we first connected because she’s the sister of one of my close friends.

Coming from a family of makers — her father a product designer and cabinet maker, her mother passionate about textiles — Katrijn brings together these two worlds beautifully in her work. Under the Fabric Fabrik name, she creates playful, meaningful design objects that honor craft and material.

One of my favorite pieces is the Ann tea light holder, a timeless reissue of a design her mother created in the 1990s, now lovingly brought back by Katrijn as a tribute to her mother’s unique creativity.
